We have all been there. You have a great idea for a project on your home, but you don’t know who to hire as the contractor.
Hiring a contractor, for most people, is a daunting task. We have all read the horror stories of bad contractors, unfinished jobs, and other issues. So how can you avoid these problems?
It comes down to taking your time and hiring the right contractor. That sounds overly simple – but there is truth to it.
Many of us want our projects done in a “reasonable” period of time. So we may think that the contractor should fit us in next month to remodel our kitchen – and we think that is reasonable. But any good contractor is usually booked several months out for bigger projects. A busy contractor is many times a sign of a good contractor. So be ready to wait for someone who is in high demand.
Also, researching contractors ahead of time is vital. Who are they? What are their reviews? Do they have a website? Who are their workers? Are they properly insured? Take your time and look up everything you can on them.
And of course – hire us. We can give you valuable information that can help you make good decisions about your home.
